Electronic Identity Card(CIE) is an Italian biometric identification document issued to any Italian citizen and to legal aliens, that has been progressively replacing the paper-based identity.

"The National Services Charter or CNS is a smart card or a USB stick that contains a ""digital certificate"" of personal authentication, useful for accessing the online services of Public Administration."

Prerequisites:

• have an active CNS.
• access from a post allowing the reading of the CNS (i.e. equipped with a dedicated reader in the case of smart cards)
• have installed CNS drivers, provided by the issuing Administration.

After verifying the prerequisites perform the following steps:

• you insert the CNS into the smart card reader or USB port.
• awards the PROCEDI button, you will be listed all of your personal identification certificates on your computer and in the CNS.
• selects the certificate of authentication contained in the CNS and prizes the OK button. The CNS certificate contains your tax code among the items of identification.
• you insert the CNS PIN code, provided by the issuing Administration . it is usually a 5-8-digit compound code. The PIN has the function of preventing the use of CNS by unauthorized persons.
